Jefferson scores 34 as Bobcats rout Pacers

Date:

Charlotte snapped a three-game losing skid by beating the Indiana Pacers 109-87 behind a balanced scoring attack as a half dozen Bobcats reached double figures in the National Basketball Association contest.

Al Jefferson finished with 34 points and Kemba Walker had 19 points and nine assists for Charlotte who held the Pacers to just 40.8 shooting from the field.

Chris Douglas-Roberts and Josh McRoberts added 12 apiece in front of a crowd of 15,372 on Wednesday.

Indiana dropped their second straight game for as many times this season as all-star Paul George scored a season-low two points and shot a dismal zero-for-nine from the field.

George’s previous low was eight points on two-of-14 shooting in a win over Washington on January 10.

Evan Turner came off the bench to score 22 points.

The Bobcats had to play without Gerald Henderson, who missed the game with a calf injury.

Charlotte struck quickly, going on a 9-2 early surge. Jefferson was a perfect six-for-six as the Bobcats led 28-8 at the end of the first quarter.

Indiana made just four-of-20 from the field in the opening quarter.

Indiana closed the gap to single digits in the second quarter, but the Bobcats scored the final six points of the first half to take a 47-38 lead.

Just like in the first quarter, the Bobcats dominated the third.

Walker’s pass to Anthony Tolliver for a catch-and-shoot triple from the right side with a minute remaining stretched their lead to 71-52.

The Pacers never threatened in the fourth quarter.

Charlotte outscored Indiana 44-24 in the paint and 23-7 in transition.
