“DU is a central university, so we receive applications from all parts of the country. But most of the applications come from the city and nearby states,” said a DU official.

Reportedly, the official said that out of the total applicants, who have completed the application process as on Saturday, there are 63,814 applications from Delhi followed by 37,476 from Uttar Pradesh, 22,177 from Haryana, 7,319 from Bihar and 4,654 from Rajasthan.

The admissions under the first cutoff list will take place from June 19 to 21. This year, the university is likely to announce only five cutoffs and conduct a centralised counselling for the remaining seats. “This is being done to ensure the admission process does not drag till August like every year,” a DU official was quoted in a report.

DU cutoffs are likely to increase by 0.25% to 1% points across streams with more students scoring 95% and above marks in the CBSE Class 12 results announced on Saturday.

Meanwhile, since most of the applications are from Delhi-NCR region, CBSE result will have a direct impact on the DU cutoffs as in Delhi alone, 2,237 students have scored 95% and above marks and 12,707 have scored 90% and above.
