Op Sankatmochan on to save Indians in Sudan

Date:

Inspired by Ramayan and also initiated  by Akshay Kumar, India has activated operation #sankatmochan to bring back stranded Indians from South Sudan.

The External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has handpicked Minister of State, Gen VK Singh, and Secretary Incharge Of Africa, Amar Sinha, to personally supervise the operation. In fact, the two Indian Airforce Globemasters will be in Juba to evacuate Indians and get them home.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Mrs Swaraj deserve credit for steering the course of Indian diplomacy to be more proactive to the aid of Indians in distress. The advent of social media has also made it easier for common Indians to reach out to them which in turn helps in keeping Indian missions on its toes. This is yet another step by India to play the role as a leader amongst the international community.
