With his carom ball, arm ball and vital contributions with the bat, Ravichandran Ashwin has become the quintessential member of the Indian Cricket team. The lanky off spinner is the number one test all-rounder in the Cricket arena. One of the principal beneficiaries of the IPL, Ashwin has been one of the few success stories for India in Test cricket in recent past. He has been India’s highest wicket taker since he made his way into the team.
Early Life
Ashwin was born on September 17, 1986 in a Hindu-Brahmin family. An alumnus from Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan and St Bede’s, Ashwin graduated with B.tech in Information and Technology from SSN College of Engineering.
Career
Ashwin is an all-rounder for Tamil Nadu state cricket team and made his debut against Andhra Pradesh in Twenty20 Cricket. He enjoyed a brilliant 2006-07 debut season with Tamil Nadu, scalping 31 wickets at an average under 20. Against Sri Lanka in 2010, Ashwin made his ODI debut. The following year, he made his Test debut earning his test cap from Sachin Tendulkar against West Indies, with figures of 27–4–81–3 in the 1st innings and 21.3–5–47–6 in the 2nd innings.
In the 20 test matches he played, Ashwin scored 874 runs and took 104 wickets while in 79 ODIs, Ashwin scored 583 runs and took 106 wickets. In his 25 T20I appearances, he has 55 runs and 25 wickets to his name.
He played for Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League. He became the highest wicket taker of the 2010 Champions League Twenty20 tournament for CSK in the tournament with 13 wickets and was adjudged as the player of the tournament and also got the Golden Wicket.

Ashwin conferred with Arjuna Award 2015.
Ashwin became the fastest Indian to record 100 wickets in Test matches as he overhauled the milestone in his eighteenth game.
He became the first Indian cricketer to score a century and take five wickets in same test match on 2 separate instances.
He is the third Indian cricketer to be awarded the Man of the Match (MoM) on debut.
He became the fastest Indian and second in the world to reach 500 wicket haul.
In 2017, he became fastest bowler in the world to get 250 test wickets
