The Indian branch of South Korean automaker Hyundai Motor India will launch the facelift of its sub-compact sedan Hyundai Xcent on 20th April 2017. Hyundai has already launched the facelift of its Hyundai Grand i10 and recently the sub-4-meter sedan is all set to receive a major cosmetic upgrade and also an engine change.
Hyundai is now targeting individual buyers and not fleet operators with its Maruti Suzuki Dzire rival. If sources are to be believed , the car will undergo a complete exterior change and will not follow the design pattern of 2017 Hyundai Grand i10. However, the overall dimension of the car and the platform will remain unaltered.
Inside the car, Hyundai Xcent will receive a refreshed dashboard and the centre console will feature the 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system which will support both Apple Car Play and Google Android Auto.
Hyundai Xcent will also get the updated 1.2L CRDi diesel engine which was first introduced in Hyundai Grand i10 facelift. The diesel engine sheds out 74 bhp of power and 190 Nm of torque. The sedan will also continue to get the same 1.2L petrol engine which delivers an 82 bhp of power.
It is expected that Hyundai Motor India will be aggressive with the pricing as with the arrival of Tata Tigor the sub-4-meter sedan segment has once again gained market share and with the new generation of Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire coming up in a next few months, Hyundai would want to capitalize with its offering.
On an average, there are about 25,000-28,000 cars sold in this segment every month with Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire dominating the market with over 60% market share. Volkswagen Ameo, Ford Figo Aspire, Honda Amaze and Tata Zest are other top-selling cars in this space for its respective companies.
