PM Modi To Hold A Meeting With CMs of 13 BJP Ruled State

Date:

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP President Amit Shah will hold a meeting with the chief ministers of 13 BJP-ruled states on Sunday, where they are going to review whether uniform policies on key issues are being followed by everyone. The chief ministers will be in the national capital on Sunday for a meeting of NITI Aayog. The last such meeting was held in August 2016. Senior ministers like Rajnath Singh, Venkaiah Naidu, Sushma Swaraj, Nitin Gadkari and BJP general secretary Ramlal will be present.

“It will be a stock-taking exercise to ensure that all the states were following uniform policies on all key issues. There will be detailed discussions on how to further strengthen the government’s agenda of good governance, Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas and welfare of the poor,” a BJP spokesperson said. The meeting has generated buzz in view of the upcoming Presidential polls and the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

When the BJP first formed the government at the Centre, the party had eight chief ministers. The number has now swelled to 13 after the recent BJP victories in Assam, Uttarakhand, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and of course, Uttar Pradesh. Deputy Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Nirmal Kumar Singh will also attend the meeting, where the security situation of Kashmir is likely to be discussed.

‘Have will to reform’

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday that he did not lack the political will required to carry our reforms, rather had an “extra bit” while exhorting bureaucrats to transform the country. Addressing a Civil Services Day function, Modi said they did not need to be afraid of any consequences for taking fast decisions as he would stand behind them.
