Residents and locals in the city had to face the ordeal of traffic jams, confusion on the streets and a general sense of chaos for more than 4-5 hours. A five-km long traffic jam was witnessed on the Gurugram-Sohna road. The road from Vatika Chowk to Subhash Chowk was choc-a-bloc with traffic as office-goers faced the traumatic task of reaching their destinations. A furious crowd ‘gheraoed’ Haryana minister Rao Narvir Singh and sought immediate action against criminals in the area. Traffic on the Gurugram-Alwara road and other routes has also been affected.
NewsMobile spoke to Ms. Papori Trehan, a resident of Gurgaon, who witnessed the action live. She narrates below the sense of tension that enveloped the city during that period.
Gunjan Rani, a resident of Vatika city told us that many school buses on route were cancelled and parents were asked to pick up their kids from the schools.
Tapasya Kumar complained about people driving in the wrong lane to avoid the jam and thereby causing more commotion. “Why is there no one to challan these rule breakers.” Rajalakshmi Sunil on the other hand lamented the poor traffic scene at Vatika Chowk saying “it’s always a mess here.” With all kinds of news floating about Kreeti was worried about school buses getting stuck, especially after the recent stone pelting episode and Priyanka Chug who was stuck in traffic wondered where the gurugram police was.
Meanwhile this is what Gurgoan police had to say about the entire ordeal.
