Artificial intelligence safety and research company Anthropic has appointed Sangeeta Bavi as Head of Digital Natives, Startups & Growth for India as part of its expanding focus on the country’s fast-growing AI ecosystem.
In her new role, Bavi will lead efforts to drive adoption of Anthropic’s AI assistant Claude among Indian startups, digital-native firms and mid-market companies.
Announcing her appointment on LinkedIn, Bavi said founders have always inspired her through their ambition and resilience, adding that joining Anthropic felt “deeply meaningful” because of the company’s focus on building safe and public-benefit artificial intelligence.
Before joining Anthropic, Bavi served as Chief Operating Officer at YourStory Media, where she led operational transformation and revenue diversification initiatives. She also previously worked at Microsoft India as Director of Startup Business, where she built the company’s startup ecosystem initiatives in the country.
Anthropic has been rapidly strengthening its India presence. India is currently Claude’s second-largest market, contributing around 7.2% of global usage. The San Francisco-based company is preparing to launch its first office in Bengaluru to expand local teams and enterprise adoption.
Earlier this year, Anthropic appointed former Microsoft India Managing Director Irina Ghose to lead India operations and named ex-Google executive Amlan Mohanty as Head of India Policy and External Affairs.
