Yahoo has officially entered the AI search arena with the launch of Yahoo Scout, an AI-powered “answer engine” designed to provide concise, natural language responses to user queries. The move positions Yahoo against competitors like Google’s AI Mode, Perplexity, and ChatGPT’s real-time search features.
Scout aims to transform the traditional search experience by moving beyond link-based results. Leveraging Yahoo’s 30-year history in search, the engine combines data from the open web, Yahoo’s own content, and insights from over 500 million user profiles, along with a knowledge graph of more than one billion entities, to deliver precise and contextual answers.
The AI tool is designed to help users with everyday tasks such as checking weather trends before a trip, following sports events, tracking stock performance after earnings, comparing products before buying, or verifying news stories.
