Sensex, Nifty continue downward trend led by IT, metal stocks

The 30-stock benchmark Sensex ended 158 points down at 35,158, on Thursday, while Nifty 50 settled at 10,746, down 48 points led by a fall in IT, metal and financial stocks.

The annual wholesale price inflation fell to a 10-month low of 2.76 percent in January, as prices of fuel and food items softened, according to government data released Thursday.

Asian stock markets were in a cautious mood on Thursday as investors hung on for any hint of progress in the latest Sino-US tariff talks amid reports the White House could extend the deadline for a deal.
