Agartala:  Two persons, including a BSF jawan, were killed and 10 injured during a clash between the border guards and villagers at South Ramnagar on Friday.
The clash occurred when BSF personnel were chasing smugglers during a routine patrol in the area near the Indo-Bangla border on Friday night, BSF DIG B S Rawat said.
BSF says the jawan was lynched by a group of villagers after he warned them not to go near the border and fired in the air to deter them. The mob, BSF claims, also tried to snatch the weapon of the jawan. But the villagers allege that the jawan was drunk and opened fire on them after an altercation.
The Tripura police have been patrolling the area since the incident.
