A massive fire has broken out in Mumbai’s Kandivali area. The fire broke in Damu Nagar slums of Kandiwali. Two people have been injured and admitted to a nearby hospital.
Mumbai fire fighting department has rushed 16 fire tenders to the spot.
“Our department received a call at about 12.33 PM and another message at about 12.51 PM about the fire. Immediately 16 fire engines, 12 water tankers, five fire brigade officials along with other jawans were rushed to the spot to douse the flames,” Deputy Chief Fire Official P S Rahangdale said.

According to reports, the fire spread to several shanties in the Damu Nagar area.
The fire broke out in a godown in Kandivali East. Local residents claim that explosion of 25-30 gas cylinders caused the blaze.

Some people are feared to have been injured in the mishap, an official at fire control room said without divulging details.
“Our primary job is to douse the fire with minimal impact and it will take sometime to ascertain the details and the cause of the blaze,” Rahangdale said.
Clouds of black smoke could be seen billowing from the slum area even from kilometres away.
