New Delhi: The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has reimposed Stage-I of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) in Delhi-NCR with immediate effect after the region’s Air Quality Index (AQI) fell into the ‘poor’ category on Wednesday.
The decision was taken based on data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), which reported a daily average AQI between 201 and 300. As a result, all 27 measures outlined under GRAP Stage-I will now be enforced by relevant authorities, including state Pollution Control Boards (PCBs) and the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC).
The CAQM has called for strict compliance with these measures and urged citizens to adhere to the guidelines listed in the Citizen Charter of GRAP Stage-I.
This move comes just days after the CAQM had lifted the Stage-I curbs on March 29, when Delhi’s AQI had improved to a moderate 153. However, with pollution levels rising again, authorities have reinstated restrictions to curb further deterioration of air quality.
