For Delhiites, there has been some respite from the scorching heat. Heavy rains and gusty winds lashed Delhi-NCR on Friday evening, August 9. Commuters faced heavy traffic and waterlogged roads.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a ‘yellow alert,’ advising residents to stay vigilant as more rain is expected over the coming days.
School Wall Collapsed
According to media reports, Two people were injured after the wall of a Municipal Corporation school collapsed on them on Friday due to heavy rainfall. Both riders sustained injuries and were taken to Rao Tula Ram Memorial Hospital by a PCR vehicle.
It’s been reported, that “The uprooted tree along with the school wall fell on the riders of two motorcycles, who had parked under the tree to save themselves from rain,” a senior Delhi Police officer said.
Weather Forecast Across North India
The IMD predicts that the rainy spell will persist throughout the weekend. Specifically, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and east Rajasthan, while light showers are forecast for Jammu-Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, and west Rajasthan.
