New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that monsoon activity is set to intensify across large parts of the country from Tuesday as six upper-air cyclonic circulations are expected to strengthen rainfall over several regions.
According to the IMD, a red alert has been issued for Himachal Pradesh, where extremely heavy rainfall is likely, while Delhi remains under a yellow alert with moderate rainfall expected. Flood conditions continue to affect Assam as the active monsoon system gains momentum.
The weather department said the enhanced rainfall activity is being driven by six upper-air cyclonic circulations and other favourable monsoon conditions. These systems are expected to bring widespread rainfall across north, central, east and parts of western India over the coming days.
In Himachal Pradesh, authorities have been advised to remain on alert as the forecast indicates the possibility of extremely heavy rainfall, increasing the risk of flash floods and landslides.
Delhi is under a yellow alert, with the IMD forecasting moderate rain and thunderstorms that could cause waterlogging and traffic disruptions in isolated areas.
The IMD has urged residents in affected regions to stay updated with official weather advisories and take necessary precautions as the monsoon becomes more active across the country.
