New Delhi: In a highly anticipated clash, Shreyas Iyer’s Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) are set to face Faf du Plessis-led Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in match no. 36 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at Eden Gardens on Sunday.
KKR stands strong with four wins and two losses, securing the third position on the points table. On the other hand, RCB finds themselves languishing at the bottom, having managed just one win out of their seven games so far.
For KKR, the spotlight will be on the dynamic all-rounder Sunil Narine. His recent century against Rajasthan Royals stands testament to his form, making him KKR’s leading run-scorer this season with an impressive 276 runs. Meanwhile, RCB’s star batter, Virat Kohli, continues to lead the run charts this season with 361 runs at an average of 72.20. However, Kohli’s strike rate during the middle overs, which hovers around 135, has raised eyebrows.
In terms of head-to-head encounters between the two teams in the IPL, KKR holds the edge with 20 wins out of 34 matches, while RCB has managed 14 victories. In their most recent meeting in March 2024, KKR emerged victorious by 7 wickets.
