Actor Ameesha Patel experienced mid-air travel disruption after her Emirates flight from New York to Mumbai was diverted to Muscat following the closure of UAE airspace due to renewed missile activity in the region.
According to her social media update, the flight was preparing to land in Dubai when operations were abruptly halted, forcing an emergency reroute.
In her post on X, she said, “On my way back to MUMBAI from NEW YORK on Emirates! As we were about to land in DUBAI, the airspace closed in the UAE due to fresh missile Attacks! We have now been diverted to MUSCAT n are awaiting further updates!! When will this WAR end!! Praying (sic).”
Following the diversion, Patel shared further updates indicating prolonged waiting hours at transit facilities. She noted that passengers were left uncertain about onward travel arrangements as regional airspace restrictions continued to affect flight operations.
The disruption comes amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, where multiple countries in the Gulf region have temporarily adjusted air traffic routes due to security concerns. Aviation authorities in the UAE have been intermittently closing or restricting airspace as a precautionary measure, impacting several international carriers.
Reports indicate that Patel was travelling from New York to Mumbai via Dubai when the incident occurred, with Muscat serving as the alternate landing point after diversion procedures were activated. The situation reflects broader disruptions affecting global aviation routes through the Gulf corridor, one of the busiest international flight pathways.
Passengers on the diverted flight were reportedly asked to remain patient as airlines coordinated alternate arrangements and awaited clearance for further travel. Authorities have not indicated any damage to aircraft or passengers during the diversion.
The incident adds to a series of recent flight disruptions in the region as airlines continue to navigate shifting airspace restrictions linked to escalating geopolitical tensions.
