Rising star Aneet Padda is set to make a striking return to the big screen, reportedly taking on a dual role in the upcoming film Shakti Shalini, directed by Aditya Sarpotdar. Following her acclaimed performance in Saiyaara, where she portrayed a girl-next-door character, the 23-year-old actor is now preparing to embody both Shakti, the protector, and Shalini, the malevolent force, in a story rooted in Bengali folklore and mythology.
According to Mid-Day, Shakti Shalini explores the eternal battle between good and evil. The narrative centres on a vengeful female ghost who punishes men after being betrayed and brutally killed. Shakti represents the goddess Kali, the ultimate form of Shakti revered in Bengal, who confronts this spirit in a mythological clash of power and justice.
Aneet was confirmed as the lead last year, marking her entry into the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe. Her character was first teased in a post-credits scene of Thamma, released on October 21, 2025, where she was described as “the creator, the destroyer, and the mother of all.” Shakti Shalini is slated for release on December 24, 2026.
Vishal Jethwa has reportedly joined the cast, playing Aneet’s love interest, adding layers beyond a traditional romantic arc. The film is being promoted as a female-led action drama with strong emotional undertones, combining stylized action sequences with contemporary storytelling.
Themes of resilience, power, and agency drive the narrative, emphasizing the lead character’s journey in confronting both external and internal challenges. The blend of mythology and modern cinematic techniques positions Shakti Shalini as one of the year’s most anticipated releases.
Aneet’s previous work includes Salaam Venky (2022) and the series Big Girls Don’t Cry (2025). In Saiyaara, she played Vaani, a shy journalist and poet who falls for musician Krish Kapur, played by Ahaan Panday, navigating love and life challenges, including a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease. Her evolving filmography reflects her versatility, setting high expectations for her performance in Shakti Shalini.
