New York: After nearly two years of legal tensions, public allegations, and courtroom developments, Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni have reached a settlement in their high-profile dispute linked to the film It Ends With Us, bringing a close to a contentious chapter just weeks before trial.
According to Variety, the agreement was finalized only two weeks ahead of a scheduled federal trial, ending months of legal back-and-forth that had drawn significant public attention. The case involved serious accusations from both sides, intensifying scrutiny around the production and workplace environment during the film’s shoot.
Lively had earlier accused Baldoni, who also directed the film, of sexual harassment on set. She further alleged that after raising concerns, she faced retaliation and an organized online campaign targeting her. Baldoni denied the allegations and later pursued legal action of his own, claiming defamation.
In a joint statement released Monday, both parties emphasized moving forward and closing the dispute. As quoted, the statement read, “source of pride to all of us who worked to bring it to life. Raising awareness, and making a meaningful impact in the lives of domestic violence survivors – and all survivors – is a goal that we stand behind.”
“We acknowledge the process presented challenges and recognise concerns raised by Ms Lively deserved to be heard. We remain firmly committed to workplaces free of improprieties and unproductive environments. It is our sincere hope that this brings closure and allows all involved to move forward constructively and in peace, including a respectful environment online,” the statement further read.
Earlier, Judge Lewis Liman dismissed 10 of Lively’s 13 civil claims, including all harassment allegations. Remaining claims included retaliation, aiding and abetting retaliation, and breach of contract.
The dispute began in December 2024 when Lively filed her complaint. Reports, including one by The New York Times, highlighted alleged internal communications from Baldoni’s team regarding response strategies. Baldoni’s defamation case against Lively and the publication was later dismissed.
Over time, several claims were dropped due to legal and technical factors, including Lively’s independent contractor status and filming location considerations, ultimately paving the way for settlement.
