Producer Namit Malhotra has indicated that the next chapter in the Astraverse will move forward once his ambitious mythological epic Ramayana wraps up, giving fans renewed hope about the sequel’s timeline.
The first film, Brahmastra: Part One: Shiva, directed by Ayan Mukerji, introduced audiences to a visually rich universe rooted in Indian mythology. Headlined by Ranbir Kapoor, alongside Alia Bhatt and Amitabh Bachchan, the film ended with a clear hint that a larger story was yet to unfold.
Speaking during promotions for Ramayana at CinemaCon 2026, Malhotra confirmed that continuing the Astraverse remains firmly on his agenda. While an official announcement is still pending, his statement has made it clear that Brahmastra 2 is not shelved but simply waiting its turn.
Earlier, Ranbir Kapoor had also reassured fans about the sequel’s progress. He said, “It is something that Ayan has been nurturing as a dream for a very long time. He is currently working on War 2. Once this releases, he will start pre-production of Brahmastra 2. It is definitely happening. We haven’t really announced much of it, but then some really interesting announcements (will be made soon) regarding Brahmastra 2.”
The upcoming installment is expected to dive deeper into the mysterious past of Dev and Amrita, a storyline that was briefly teased in the climax of the first film. With mythology, romance, and high-stakes drama at its core, the sequel is likely to expand the Astraverse in a much bigger way.
For now, all eyes are on Ramayana, after which the Astraverse journey is set to continue.
