Brittany Snow has joined the cast of The Housemaid’s Secret, alongside previously announced stars Sydney Sweeney, Kirsten Dunst and Paul Anthony Kelly, reported Variety.
According to the outlet, The Housemaid’s Secret is the follow-up to the 2025 box office sleeper hit The Housemaid. Based on Freida McFadden’s bestselling novel, the sequel follows Sweeney’s Millie, who works as a live-in maid for wealthy families and takes a new job keeping house for a woman she has never been allowed to see.
Similar to the first story, Millie’s employers, portrayed by Dunst and Kelly as spouses, are hiding a dark and sinister secret. Snow will play Marybeth, an unassuming receptionist at the husband’s company.
Production on the psychological thriller is expected to begin later this year. Paul Feig is returning to direct The Housemaid’s Secret after leading The Housemaid, which earned USD 400 million globally against a USD 35 million budget.
Rebecca Sonnenshine, who adapted the first book, is returning to write the sequel. The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on December 17, 2027.
Snow was recently seen in the series The Hunting Wives, which was produced by Lionsgate Television and has been renewed for a second season.
She is best known for films including John Tucker Must Die, Hairspray, the Pitch Perfect trilogy and A24’s X.
According to Variety, Lionsgate plans to develop The Housemaid into a major film franchise. While no further projects have been announced, McFadden’s third novel, The Housemaid Is Watching, is also expected to be adapted for the big screen.
