In a shocking development that has sent ripples through the music industry, singer D4vd has been arrested in connection with the death of teenage girl Celeste Rivas Hernandez, whose body was discovered in the trunk of an impounded Tesla linked to the artist last year, according to People Magazine.
The case, already under intense scrutiny, has now escalated with the 21-year-old musician, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, being taken into custody by authorities.
The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed on Thursday that Burke is being held without bail. “The case will be presented to the District Attorney’s office on Monday for filing consideration,” the LAPD added.
According to People Magazine, Burke was arrested in the Hollywood Hills on a probable cause warrant. Investigators also alleged that he had not been cooperative during the ongoing investigation.
However, his legal team has strongly denied all allegations and maintained his innocence. In a statement, they said, “Let us be clear – the actual evidence in this case will show that David Burke did not murder Celeste Rivas Hernandez and he was not the cause of her death.”
They further added, “There has been no indictment returned by any grand jury in this case and no criminal complaint filed. David has only been detained under suspicion. We will vigorously defend David’s innocence.”
According to People Magazine, the arrest comes approximately two months after Burke was named a target in a grand jury investigation. Prosecutors had previously suggested that D4vd may be linked to the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, who was believed to have died under suspicious circumstances.
The teenager’s body was found on September 8, 2025, inside the trunk of an impounded Tesla registered to the singer, just one day after her 15th birthday. Authorities were alerted after reports of a strong foul odor coming from the vehicle.
Police officials earlier told People Magazine that the body may have remained in the car for several weeks before discovery. However, the exact cause and manner of death remain undetermined, with forensic investigations still ongoing.
The Tesla in question had reportedly been abandoned in the Hollywood Hills for nearly a month before being towed. Investigators are continuing to piece together how Celeste Rivas Hernandez and D4vd may have been connected, while the case remains under active investigation.
