Amazon MGM Studios has pulled back the curtain on Verity, its upcoming psychological thriller, with a gripping first look unveiled at CinemaCon in Las Vegas—hinting at a deeply unsettling story packed with tension, mystery, and emotional complexity. Adapted from Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel, the film promises a haunting exploration of truth, obsession, and the blurred lines between fiction and reality.
Directed by Michael Showalter, Verity reunites him with Anne Hathaway after their recent collaboration on The Idea of You. This time, however, the tone shifts dramatically into darker territory. The story follows Lowen Ashleigh, played by Dakota Johnson, a struggling writer who is offered a life-changing opportunity: to complete a wildly successful book series left unfinished after its author, Verity Crawford (Hathaway), is rendered incapacitated.
As showcased in a “for-the-room only” trailer at CinemaCon, the film wastes no time establishing its eerie atmosphere. Upon arriving at the Crawford home, Lowen is immediately disturbed by Verity’s condition. “Can she speak?
