Demon Hunters Brings India-Taiwan Co-Production To Streaming Platforms

Date:

Strengthening cross-border entertainment collaboration, the India-Taiwan co-production Demon Hunters is set for a major digital debut, premiering on May 15 across JioHotstar and Amazon Prime Video, expanding the action-horror-comedy’s reach across the Indian subcontinent after its theatrical run in Taiwan.

The film will release simultaneously on both platforms with multilingual accessibility. JioHotstar will stream the film in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, while Prime Video will offer Mandarin, English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu versions, making it accessible to a broad international audience.

Directed by Mei-Juin Chen, Demon Hunters follows Tommy, a YouTuber who stages fake exorcisms for online fame, who teams up with Sanjay, an Indian tech expert and grandson of a legendary exorcist, to battle a zombie demon possession. The film blends action, horror, comedy, romance, and science fiction.

The cast is led by Arjan Bajwa alongside JC Lin, Jack Kao, Harry Chang, and Regina Lei. The production features more than 700 VFX shots and a hybrid Taiwanese-Hindi soundtrack, including the Bollywood-style track “Dadaji Ka Jadoo,” distributed by Sony Music Taiwan.

Backed by Taiwan’s Ministry of Culture, the film is produced by Light House Productions and Kleos Entertainment Group. The international collaboration also includes contributions from teams associated with Jackie Chan’s action choreography and cinematography units.

“This is a strategic step toward building globally resonant IP from Asia,” said Gayathiri Guliani, producer at Kleos Entertainment Group. “It demonstrates how culturally rooted stories can transcend borders and unlock new audience ecosystems.”

Cindy Shyu, producer at Light House Productions, added: “Bringing together India and Taiwan on this scale has been creatively enriching. The film reflects a seamless blend of storytelling traditions and technical excellence that audiences worldwide can connect with.”

Kamal Jain of Superfine Films, the Indian distribution partner, said: “This is the kind of cinema that travels, connects, and performs across markets.”

Demon Hunters was originally released theatrically in Taiwan by Vie Vision Pictures, and its OTT debut marks a significant step in expanding Asian collaborative cinema to global streaming audiences.
