Diljit surprised the audience when he walked towards an elderly woman in the crowd. With great reverence, he bowed before her, held her hand up, and said, “By the way, this is my mom.” The moment became even more touching when the woman, later identified as his mother, Sukhwinder Kaur, became teary-eyed. The crowd erupted into cheers as mother and son embraced on stage, cementing this heartwarming display as the highlight of the evening.
Diljit didn’t stop there. He went on to introduce another woman standing nearby, adding, “She is my sister. My family has come here today.” The crowd’s excitement doubled as his sister smiled proudly at her brother’s gesture. The emotional reveal came during his performance of the heartfelt song “Haas Haas,” with lyrics that seemed to mirror the deep bond Diljit shares with his mother.
Diljit Dosanjh is notoriously private when it comes to his family, rarely speaking about them in public. In the past, he’s avoided introducing them to the world for their safety, a decision he explained in interviews. “I keep my family away from the spotlight to protect them,” Diljit shared, reflecting on the criticisms he faced early in his career. He revealed that he made the choice to keep his family shielded from the limelight to avoid any unwanted attention or trouble for them.
Following his successful UK tour, Diljit will commence the Indian leg of his Dil-Luminati Tour this October, kicking off in Delhi at the iconic Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on October 26. Fans across India are eagerly awaiting his performances in cities like Hyderabad, Pune, Kolkata, and Bengaluru, with the tour concluding in Guwahati on December 29.
