The high-octane world of Netflix’s Extraction franchise is set to roar back to life, with Chris Hemsworth officially returning for a third installment that promises even bigger action and intensity. As anticipation builds, fans can also look forward to the return of familiar faces and the creative team that helped turn the series into a global hit.
According to Deadline, Idris Elba and Golshifteh Farahani are also reprising their roles in Extraction 3, continuing the story of elite black ops mercenary Tyler Rake and his dangerous missions. The film is scheduled to begin production this summer, signaling that the next chapter is moving forward at full speed.
Director Sam Hargrave, who helmed the previous films, is returning to direct once again, while David Weil has been tapped to write the script. Their collaboration is expected to maintain the gritty tone and adrenaline-fueled storytelling that defined the earlier entries.
While specific plot details are being kept tightly under wraps, audiences can expect another high-stakes mission packed with intense combat sequences and emotional depth. Tyler Rake, played by Hemsworth, will once again be at the center of the action as he leads his team into yet another dangerous extraction operation.
The film is backed by a strong production team, with Anthony Russo, Joe Russo, Angela Russo-Otstot, Michael Disco, and Ari Costa producing through AGBO. Hemsworth will also produce alongside Benjamin Grayson for Wild State, with Hargrave, Patrick Newall, Eric Gitter, and Peter Schwerin joining the production effort.
The Extraction series is based on the graphic novel Ciudad by Ande Parks, from a story developed by Parks and the Russo brothers, with illustrations by Fernando Leon Gonzalez. Executive producer Steven V. Scavelli also remains attached to the project.
With its returning cast, proven creative team, and a reputation for delivering relentless action, Extraction 3 is shaping up to be another explosive chapter in the blockbuster franchise.
