Fast & Furious Expands With Four New Television Series At Peacock

Date:

Los Angeles: The Fast & Furious universe is officially expanding into television, with four new TV series currently in development for Peacock. The major announcement was made by franchise star Vin Diesel during NBCUniversal’s upfront presentation in New York on Monday, where he appeared alongside Jimmy Fallon.

Diesel revealed the news while speaking about the long-standing demand from fans for the franchise to grow beyond films and explore television storytelling.

“For the last decade, we have realized that the fans have wanted more,” Diesel said. “They wanted us to expand the legacy characters, their stories. And for the last decade, the desire has been for us to entire the TV space that Fallon has mastered. And I had to wait till it was right… It became right when Donna Langley started to oversee it all, because that’s when I knew that the integrity of the characters, the international appeal, what makes us all feel like family would be protected in the TV space… The news that I have here today is that Peacock is launching four shows from the ‘Fast and Furious’ universe.”

Although specific plot details for the four projects are currently being kept secret, Diesel assured audiences that the upcoming shows would remain faithful to the legacy and emotional core of the films that helped build the global franchise over the past two decades.

The television expansion will feature experienced creative talent behind the scenes. Mike Daniels, known for work on Sons of Anarchy, Shades of Blue and Rockford Files, and Wolfe Coleman will serve as co-showrunners, writers and executive producers. Diesel will also executive produce through One Race alongside Neal Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Jeff Kirschenbaum and Chris Morgan. Universal Television
will produce the projects.

There have been 11 films released in the Fast & Furious franchise so far, collectively earning more than $7 billion worldwide. The next installment, Fast Forever, is scheduled to release in 2028.

The original The Fast and the Furious, released by Universal Pictures
in 2001, will also receive a special midnight screening at the Cannes Film Festival on May 13 to celebrate its 25th anniversary.
