Speculation around Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay’s much-awaited film Jana Nayagan has picked up pace once again after a Canadian distributor hinted that the film could arrive in theatres on July 24.

The fresh buzz began when Canada-based distributor York Cinemas shared a post on X, announcing a July 24 release for the overseas market. Although the post was not an official announcement from the makers, it quickly sparked excitement among fans, many of whom have been waiting for an update after months of silence.
Reports also suggest that the film has crossed a major hurdle in its certification process. The makers are believed to have completed all the changes recommended by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), with the censor certificate expected soon. If that happens, an official release date announcement could follow shortly.
While July 24 is currently the date being widely discussed, industry chatter also points to July 23 as a possible alternative depending on the final release strategy. However, KVN Productions has not confirmed either date, leaving fans to wait for an official word.
Jana Nayagan was initially slated for a January release but ran into a lengthy certification delay that stretched over several months. The film later became the subject of legal proceedings, online rumours, and even a piracy leak before its theatrical debut, making its journey to the big screen far more eventful than expected.
Marketed as Vijay’s final film before dedicating himself fully to politics, Jana Nayagan has remained one of the most anticipated Tamil releases of the year. Until the production house confirms the release and the CBFC issues the certificate, the July release dates should be treated as speculation rather than confirmation.
