Karan Aujla paid a heartfelt tribute to legendary singer Asha Bhosle during his Mumbai concert on Sunday, shortly after news of her demise at the age of 92 emerged.
Aujla paused his performance before taking a zipline across the arena, observing a moment of silence in her memory. This was followed by a special mash-up featuring around 15 of her iconic songs, including “Piya Tu Ab To Aaja,” “Dum Maro Dum,” and “Chura Liya Hai Tumne Jo Dil.”
The tribute carried deep emotional significance, as it came on the same day her passing was reported. Notably, Bhosle had last performed on stage in 2024, where she sang Aujla’s hit track “Tauba Tauba” and even recreated a popular dance step.
Born in 1933, Bhosle began her career early and rose to fame in the 1950s. Over the decades, she recorded thousands of songs across various genres and languages, becoming one of Indian cinema’s most influential voices.
She received several honours, including the Dadasaheb Phalke Award and the Padma Vibhushan, and was recognised by Guinness World Records as the most-recorded artist.
