Los Angeles: The first look of the horror series Crystal Lake, a prequel to the 1980 horror film Friday the 13th, was unveiled by the makers on Monday. The series stars Linda Cardellini in the lead role.
Cardellini plays Pam Voorhees, a single mother struggling with grief after her young, sickly son Jason tragically drowned in the town lake almost a year earlier.
The plot synopsis teases, “When two strangers arrive at Pam’s door digging into her past, a disturbing chain of events is set into motion, leaving the townspeople of Crystal Lake wondering: just who is Pam Voorhees?”
According to the teaser released by streaming platform Peacock, the series explores the curse surrounding Crystal Lake, linked to Jason’s drowning, as a group sits around a campfire in the dark.
Peacock shared the teaser on its Instagram handle, giving fans an early look at the upcoming horror series.
According to Deadline, all eight episodes of Crystal Lake will premiere on the same date in October, with each episode running for around an hour. Alongside Cardellini, the series regulars include William Catlett, Devin Kessler, Cameron Scoggins and Gwendolyn Sundstrom. Recurring cast members include Callum Vinson, Nick Cordileone, Joy Suprano, Danielle Kotch and Phoenix Parnevik.
The executive producers of the series include Brad Caleb Kane, Marc Toberoff, Victor Miller, Robert M. Barsamian, Robert P. Barsamian, Stuart Manashil, Tyson Bidner, Michael Lennox and Roy Lee.
Michael Lennox directed the first three episodes, while Quyen Tran directed the penultimate and finale episodes. Crystal Lake will stream on October 15.
