Los Angeles: Nick Jonas is set to headline a new romantic comedy, further cementing his growing presence in Hollywood as he juggles multiple high-profile projects across genres. The untitled film, to be directed by Ari Sandel, marks another significant step in Jonas’s evolving acting career.
According to reports, the film is penned by Tamara Chestna, known for works like Something from Tiffany and Moxie. The story centres on a carefree bachelor whose life takes an unexpected turn when he inherits his cousin’s infant child. As he begins to adjust to fatherhood, his world is further complicated when the child’s godmother arrives during the holidays, seeking custody. What unfolds is an unexpected romance between the two.
The project will be produced by Steve Barnett for Monarch Media, along with Mark Ross for Lincoln Road Films, and Spencer Berman, with Jonas also attached as a producer.
Jonas has been on a prolific run in recent months. He premiered his musical dramedy Power Ballad to critical acclaim at SXSW and is also set to star alongside Kathryn Newton in White Elephant. The upcoming film is described as a holiday horror project and marks a key collaboration under a new horror-thriller partnership between MRC, Radio Silence, and Project X.
In addition, Jonas appears opposite Paul Rudd in Power Ballad, directed by John Carney, which is scheduled for release on June 5.
Looking ahead, Jonas will also feature in the next installment of the blockbuster Jumanji franchise alongside Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, and Kevin Hart. The film recently wrapped production, with Johnson confirming the milestone and praising the ensemble cast.
In a social media post, Johnson highlighted the chemistry and energy of returning stars including Karen Gillan and Jonas, who reprises his role as “Seaplane.” He also acknowledged performances by Alex Wolff, Madison Iseman, Morgan Turner, and Ser’Darius Blain, crediting the wider cast for contributing to the franchise’s continued success.
