Mumbai: Salman Khan’s upcoming war drama Maatrubhumi has reportedly received government clearance, raising the possibility of a theatrical release as early as November 13, according to a report.
The film was earlier announced as Battle of Galwan and is based on the 2020 India-China conflict. Its release had been delayed after concerns were reportedly raised over its portrayal of China and references to bilateral relations.
According to the report, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting cleared a revised version of the film last week. A report cited by the publication said officials were satisfied with the changes and issued a No Objection Certificate (NOC).
The revised film reportedly presents India-China relations in a more positive light. The makers are now expected to submit the movie to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for theatrical certification.
The report said Salman Khan is considering November 13 for the release, believing the post-Diwali period could be suitable. A clearer decision is expected once the CBFC process progresses, reportedly within the next 10 days.
Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, Maatrubhumi also stars Chitrangada Singh.
Salman Khan is also set to appear in director Vamshi Paidipally’s tentatively titled SVC63, co-starring Nayanthara.
