A Bengaluru woman has raised concerns over an alleged cash-on-delivery (COD) scam after she received a parcel worth ₹500 that she claims she never ordered. The incident, captured in a video posted on Instagram, has drawn attention to fraudulent delivery schemes targeting unsuspecting customers.
According to media reports, the delivery executive arrived at the woman’s residence with a package and asked her to pay ₹500 before accepting it. The woman refused, insisting she had not placed any order and repeatedly questioned the sender’s identity. She also asked the delivery agent to contact his supervisor for clarification.
During the phone conversation, the woman accused the company of attempting to deceive customers into paying for fake deliveries. However, the person on the call maintained that the order had been placed through Instagram, a claim the woman firmly denied.
The woman later opened the parcel, which allegedly contained only a damaged box with half a bar of Rin soap inside. She said the contents reinforced her suspicion that the parcel was part of a fraudulent cash-on-delivery scheme intended to trick recipients into making unnecessary payments.
The incident has prompted a response from Bengaluru City Police. Reacting to the viral post on X, the police asked the woman to share the location where the incident took place, indicating that authorities are looking into the matter.
