SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Bank (JK Bank) has issued a warning to pensioners about a fake “JK Pension Card” scheme being promoted through social media and online platforms.
The fraudulent advertisements are reportedly being circulated on WhatsApp, Facebook and Telegram, falsely offering pension-related cards, updates or benefits. The bank cautioned that clicking on such links could expose users to cyber fraud.
According to JK Bank, victims may be asked to download APK files or suspicious mobile applications. These apps can seek access to SMS messages, call logs and accessibility settings, allowing fraudsters to intercept OTPs and potentially access sensitive banking information.
The bank has urged pensioners not to click on links received through unsolicited messages or advertisements and not to install applications from unknown sources.
Customers have also been advised never to share their debit card details, CVV, PIN, OTPs, internet banking passwords or mobile banking credentials with anyone. Any request for such information in exchange for pension-related benefits should be treated as fraudulent.
Those who suspect they have been targeted or have already installed a suspicious application should immediately contact their bank and secure their digital banking accounts. JK Bank has advised customers to block digital banking channels through the mPay Delight Plus app, its official website or the bank’s Contact Centre at 18008902122.
Victims can also report cyber fraud through the 1930 National Cyber Crime Helpline or the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal. The bank further advised users to remove suspicious applications and, where necessary, consider resetting their mobile devices to factory settings.
JK Bank has urged pensioners to share the warning with family members and fellow pensioners to help prevent others from falling victim to the scam.
