Ranchi Nurse Allegedly Held Captive In Dubai After Job Promise Turns Into Nightmare

Date:

A Ranchi woman who travelled to Dubai after being promised a nursing job was allegedly held captive, abused and forced to perform household chores, police said.

The case came to light after her father filed a complaint, following which an FIR was registered at Ranchi airport police station against Priyanka, an agent associated with AMD Trend Solutions, her husband Ritesh and Md Meraj Ansari.

According to the complaint, Monica Kachhap, a B.Sc. nursing graduate who was working at a private hospital in Ranchi, responded to a nursing job advertisement on social media. She allegedly paid ₹15,000 to Priyanka on April 22 and later made another payment for her air ticket.

Monica travelled from Delhi to Sharjah on May 5. Police said she was met at the airport by a driver allegedly sent by the recruiting company. Her passport was reportedly taken from her at that point.

The complaint states that she was taken the following day to an office on the 24th floor of a building in Ajman. There, Ritesh and Meraj Ansari allegedly pressured her to sign documents written in Arabic.

Police are investigating the allegations of recruitment fraud, passport seizure and illegal confinement. Her family has appealed for her safe return to India.
