To mark the occasion of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s 71st birth anniversary, filmmaker AL Vijay announced that he will be making a biopic on the late politician and the film is titled ‘Thalaivi’.
The director, in a statement, stated that the cast and crew will be announced shortly. Reportedly, the research work is on since nine months.

Produced by Vishnu Varadhan Induri’s Vibri Media, the film’s title in dark red also has a sketch of the leader holding out two fingers, her party’s symbol. The biopic will be made in three languages (Tamil, Telugu and Hindi).
Post the demise of Jayalalithaa, many filmmakers have announced biopics based on her life. Last year, director Priyadarshini announced a biopic on the late politician and titled it ‘The Iron Lady’. It stars Nithya Menen and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar in the lead roles.
