New Delhi: Filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani is all set to make his debut in the OTT space. Taking on the role of a showrunner, he has enlisted Vikrant Massey to play a crucial part in the upcoming project.
During a virtual interaction with PTI, Rajkumar Hirani spoke about his new project with Vikrant Massey on Disney+Hotstar.
“I’m doing an OTT show, which we actually start shooting this month. I’m a showrunner for that, I’m not directing it. It’s a show for Hotstar (Disney Plus Hotstar), and Vikrant Massey is playing a role in it,” the Dunki director said.
“It’s something I’m very happy about, with the script and the way it has panned out. On this show, I’m really involved, and it’s in my own space,” the filmmaker added.
Hirani shared that he used the pandemic period to work on more scripts, and he also has a couple of ideas for feature films.
Apart from using the pandemic for scriptwriting, Hirani tackled the longstanding question about the next film in the ‘Munnabhai’ franchise.
Hirani shared, “It’s not that I don’t want to do it, 100 per cent I want to do it because I had fun making those films. After every film, I’ve tried to write one ‘Munnabhai’. So, I have five unfinished Munna Bhai scripts lying with me with various titles.”
The director confirmed having project ideas with working titles, highlighting the importance of a strong story over box office success. Hirani also shared his excitement about working again with Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi.
