A devastating accident shook Madhya Pradesh’s Mandsaur district on Sunday after a van carrying 13 passengers plunged into a deep well, leaving 10 people dead, including a jawan. Officials said rescue operations were immediately launched, but tragically, most lives could not be saved.
Confirming the details, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Manoj Kumar Singh said, “There were 13 passengers inside the vehicle. We received information that 10 people lost their lives.” The three survivors were rushed to a nearby hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences over the tragic incident. PM Modi, expressing sorrow over the loss, announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured through the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav also mourned the loss, terming it a deeply unfortunate accident. He informed that financial aid of Rs 2 lakh would be provided to the families of each deceased, Rs 1 lakh to those seriously injured, and Rs 50,000 to those with minor injuries from the state relief fund. The Chief Minister added that local authorities acted swiftly to conduct rescue operations and ensured that the injured were promptly admitted to nearby hospitals for treatment.
