Gwalior: A 15-year-old girl from Bhind district was allegedly gang-raped and murdered in Gwalior, after which the perpetrators attempted to burn her body to destroy evidence. The charred remains of the Class 9 student were recovered from the Gupteshwar Hill area near the Navagraha Temple.
The victim had gone missing on May 28. Following the discovery of a contact number belonging to a youth named Ramu Gurjar, her family filed a kidnapping complaint at the Mau Police Station.
Police investigations revealed that Gurjar lured the teenager to a secluded spot in Gwalior. There, he and his two accomplices, Arun Kushwah and Gaurav Kushwah, sexually assaulted her. Fearing exposure, the trio murdered the girl on May 29, poured petrol on her body, and set it on fire to obliterate her identity.
Acting on leads, the police detained Gurjar, whose interrogation subsequently led to the arrest of the other two co-accused. All three suspects are currently in custody and have reportedly confessed to the crime.
Tension escalated on Tuesday when the victim’s charred body was brought back to her village after a post-mortem. Grieving family members and furious villagers staged a sit-in, blocking the road and demanding the immediate hanging of the accused.
Senior police officials arrived at the scene to pacify the crowd, assuring a meticulous, multi-angle investigation to ensure complete justice for the victim.
