The Delhi Jal Board (DJB) has announced that water supply in several areas of the national capital will be disrupted for 16 hours on October 1 and 2 due to maintenance work.
The DJB mentioned that water services would be paused for significant repairs, and residents in the impacted locations are encouraged to use water wisely.
DJB’s official notice said, “Due to major repair work in the 1100 mm dia header line feeding to 1100 mm dia West Delhi Main and 1200 mm dia Pitampura Main inside plant premises of Water Treatment Plant Haiderpur Ph-l, the water supply in the affected areas shall not be available or available at low pressure from the morning of October 1 (10 am) to October 2 (2 am), i.e., for 16 hours.”
The board also advised the public to prepare for this period by storing water in advance and practising mindful consumption. They cautioned that this planned service suspension could interfere with daily life, as households will lack supply. The advisory stated, “Residents of the affected areas are strongly urged to make judicious use of water during this time to ensure minimal disruption.”
To lessen the inconvenience, DJB will make water tankers accessible upon request. Residents needing water during the shutdown can contact the DJB helpline or central control room.
