New Delhi: Two Air India group pilots have returned non-negative results in mandatory psychoactive substance screening, days after the airline introduced testing for all its pilots following the Phuket-Delhi flight incident.
According to Sources quoted by reports around 300 to 400 pilots have undergone screening since the mandatory testing began on August 13. The process is still underway.
The samples of the two pilots have now been sent for confirmatory analysis. Officials are awaiting the final results to determine whether any prohibited psychoactive substance was actually consumed.
A non-negative screening result only indicates the possible presence of a substance or chemical marker and does not by itself establish that a pilot has used a prohibited substance.
The testing was introduced across the Air India group following the incident involving the pilot-in-command of Air India flight AI2379 on the Phuket-Delhi route.
