A 32-year-old man accused of the deadly terror attack on a CRPF convoy in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district in February 2019 died of a heart attack in the Government Medical College Hospital, according to officials.
One of the 19 individuals, Bilal Ahmad Kuchey was chargesheeted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on August 25, 2020. He was among the seven accused arrested in the case.
According to media reports, Kuchey was admitted to hospital after he fell sick at the Kishtwar district jail on September 17. Kuchey died on September 23 due to a heart attack.
The Pulwama Attack
The Pulwama terror attack was claimed to be one of the worst, deadliest attacks, where 40 CRPF personnel died. An explosive-laden SUV rammed into the convoy of CRPF jawans on the Srinagar-Jammu highway.
Pakistan-based Islamist militant group Jaish-e-Mohammed took responsibility for the attack.
The NIA has stated that the Pulwama attack was the result of a coordinated plot orchestrated by JeM. According to the agency, JeM cadres had been sent for training in Afghanistan in collaboration with Al-Qaeda, Taliban, and Haqqani groups to learn the use of explosives and terror tactics.
