48 Tourist Sites In Kashmir Shut Amid Security Concerns

Date:

The Jammu and Kashmir government has closed numerous resorts and over half of the region’s tourist sites due to security concerns following a terror attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 civilians.
At least 48 resorts and popular destinations, such as Doodhpatri in Budgam and Verinag in Anantnag, are now off-limits. The shutdown has sparked uncertainty for Kashmir’s tourism industry, a vital economic lifeline for locals. Frightened by the attack, tourists are leaving the Union territory in droves, and many have cancelled upcoming trips, further threatening the region’s economy.

According to reports, more locations may be added to the list in the coming days.

The officials said that the tourist locations closed are in remote areas of Kashmir and include some of the new destinations that have been opened over the past decade.

The spots put off limits for tourists include Dooshpathri, Kokernag, Duksum, Sinthan Top, Acchabal, Bangus Valley, Margan Top, and Tosamaidan.

Although the authorities have not issued a formal order to this effect, the entry to these places has been blocked.

In the case of several Mughal Gardens in south Kashmir, the doors to these spots have been locked.
