In a heartwarming coincidence, twelve babies have been born at the Central Hospital in the Maha Kumbh area, adding a special significance to the grand Hindu pilgrimage. Parents, deeply connected to the spiritual essence of the event, have chosen names that forever link their children to the holy Sangam.
The latest arrival, a baby boy, was born on Sunday night, marking the twelfth birth at the facility. The mothers hail from different parts of Uttar Pradesh, including Barabanki, Chitrakoot, and Kaushambi, as well as states like Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh. Some belong to groups of devotees traveling for the pilgrimage, while others are wives of grade-four employees working at the Kumbh.
One of the most striking incidents involved a woman from Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, who went into labor while bathing at the ghat. She was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance and later gave birth to a baby girl, whom the family named Saraswati.
The first baby born at the hospital during the pilgrimage was delivered on December 29 by Sonam from Kaushambi. The child was named Kumbh in honor of the sacred event. The birth was acknowledged by Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister Brajesh Pathak, who extended his congratulations to the family.
The Central Hospital, located in Sector 2, is one of 13 medical centers set up to serve the millions of devotees attending the Maha Kumbh Mela. The official event commenced on January 13 and will continue until February 26, though pilgrims had started arriving as early as December 2024.
