Agra: Agra police have cracked a sensational murder case within 24 hours, where a man was allegedly killed by his wife and her accomplices, using a crucial clue from a QR code found at the crime scene.
The case surfaced on April 1 after a half-burnt body was discovered in the Saiyan area, triggering panic among residents. The victim was later identified as Lokendra through a tattoo on his forearm, as his face was charred beyond recognition.
A missing person complaint filed by his brother indicated that Lokendra was last seen with Mahesh Prajapati.
Police formed five teams to investigate and began examining evidence from the scene, including liquor bottles and paper scraps. A significant breakthrough came when officers scanned a QR code on a liquor bottle, which traced back to a nearby shop. CCTV footage from the shop showed Lokendra with Mahesh and another associate, Dharamveer, shortly before his disappearance.
Based on this evidence, police detained the suspects. During interrogation, it was revealed that Lokendra’s wife was in a relationship with Mahesh. After Lokendra discovered the affair and opposed it, the accused allegedly conspired to eliminate him.
According to police, Lokendra was lured to a secluded field under the pretext of drinking. There, Mahesh and Dharamveer allegedly strangled him and later attempted to destroy evidence by setting the body on fire.
All three accused, including the victim’s wife, have been arrested and presented before the court. Police officials credited swift coordination and technical investigation for the rapid resolution of the case.
