A school teacher in Ahmedabad has been arrested after a video of him beating a student went viral where a teacher at the Madhav Public School in Vatva, Ahmedabad was caught on camera harassing a class 10 student by pushing him against the wall and pulling his hair inside the classroom.
The took decisive action on Tuesday by suspending both its principal and a teacher after a disturbing video surfaced online. The incident, recorded by a CCTV camera, raised significant concern, prompting the district education officer (DEO) of Ahmedabad to issue a formal notice to Madhav Public School located in Vatva.
The video depicted the teacher, Abhishek Patel, inflicting severe corporal punishment on the student, including twisting his arm, pulling his hair, slamming him against a wall, and slapping him multiple times.
Rohit Chaudhari, the DEO, commented, “The school authorities have responded to our notice and said that they have taken necessary action including suspension of the teacher. Also, the school said that the principal has been removed as he did not report the matter and was trying to brush it under the carpet.” Following the parents’ complaint, Patel was apprehended by the police at Vatva station, Chaudhari added.
