Air India has grounded a Boeing 787 Dreamliner after a pilot reported a possible defect in the aircraft’s fuel control switch, the airline said in an official statement. The aircraft was taken out of service as a precautionary measure soon after the issue was flagged.

According to Air India, the concern was reported on a Boeing 787-8 aircraft. Following standard safety procedures, the airline grounded the aircraft and initiated checks in coordination with the original equipment manufacturer to examine the pilot’s observations on a priority basis.

The airline confirmed that the matter has been formally communicated to the aviation regulator, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Acting on regulatory directions, Air India also carried out inspections of fuel control switches across its entire Boeing 787 fleet. The airline said no issues were detected in the remaining aircraft.

The aircraft manufacturer, Boeing, is being involved in the technical assessment as part of routine safety and compliance protocols.

Air India clarified that there were no reports of injuries or in-flight incidents linked to the issue. Operations were affected only to the extent of grounding the specific aircraft under review.

The airline reiterated that passenger safety remains its highest priority and that all actions taken were precautionary, in line with regulatory guidelines and global aviation safety standards.
