Allahabad HC Judge Withdraws From Lakhimpur Kheri Violence Case

Prayagraj: Justice Rajeev Singh withdrew his name from hearing the bail plea of Union Minister Ajay Mishra’s son Ashish Mishra case in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case. The decision came in after the Supreme Court canceled the bail granted by Allahabad High Court and asked Ashish Mishra to surrender.

Main Accused Ashish Mishra surrendered himself after the ruling of the Supreme Court in a district prison after his bail was canceled by the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court on Monday canceled the bail granted by Allahabad High Court to the Minister’s son Ashish Mishra and asked him to surrender himself within a week. The bench was headed by Justice NV Ramana who gave the orders. The court remanded the order back to Allahabad High Court and asked them to hear the issue afresh.

Allahabad High Court granted bail to Ashish Mishra stating that he was accused of inciting the driver to run over the protestors but the driver and two co-passengers were killed. The High Court observed that there were thousands of protestors and the driver might have speeded to save himself leading to the incident.

3rd October 2021

A convoy of three including a Thar which was owned by Union Minister Ajay Mishra ran over farmers and protestors who were protesting against the three farm bills introduced by the Central government.
