Amitabh Bachchan Promotes Safe Driving in New Government Road Safety Campaign

Date:

New Delhi: Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan has featured in a new road safety campaign video, urging motorists to follow proper driving practices, including the correct use of turn indicators.

Released by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways in collaboration with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the video highlights essential safety measures for drivers. Bachchan advises motorists to use indicators well in advance, avoid cutting in front of other vehicles, and check rear-view mirrors before making turns.

The campaign is part of the government’s broader push to improve road safety awareness and reduce accidents across the country. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has been actively promoting such initiatives, citing alarming figures related to road fatalities.

Officials noted that a significant number of deaths are linked to the non-use of helmets and seat belts, with a majority of victims falling in the 18–44 age group. To address this, the government has introduced schemes such as the ‘Rah Veer’ initiative, which rewards Good Samaritans assisting accident victims and covers medical expenses.

Authorities say awareness campaigns, stricter enforcement, and public participation remain key to reducing fatalities and improving road safety nationwide.
