Ample Parking Space For Aircraft: Delhi Airport Ahead Of G20 Summit

Date:

New Delhi: The Delhi airport management, operated by DIAL, recently stated that it’s been approached by various airlines with requests to cancel approximately 80 departing and an equal number of arriving domestic flights. This is in relation to the upcoming G20 Summit scheduled for September 8 for a three-day duration.

The consortium that oversees the Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL), led by the GMR Group, has taken steps to ensure a seamless experience for all attendees. It’s worth noting that the airport possesses ample parking facilities to accommodate aircraft throughout the duration of the summit.

In a statement, the airport authority expressed a deep sense of pride in India’s role as the host of the G20 Summit 2023. They clarified that the news about flight cancellations shouldn’t be linked to concerns about aircraft parking. Assurances were given that the necessary parking arrangements have already been made to address this aspect.

The cancellations seem to be a result of airlines responding to potential traffic constraints arising from the G20 Summit. The airport’s spokesperson mentioned that they have received requests for around 80 departing and 80 arriving domestic flights to be cancelled over the course of three days. This figure represents a mere 6% of the regular domestic operations at the Delhi Airport. The airport management emphasized that these limitations will have no impact on international flights.

Acknowledging that this situation could affect approximately 80 arrivals and departures, the airport management remains dedicated to collaborating closely with the airlines to minimize any inconvenience experienced by passengers. This commitment reflects the airport’s dedication to ensuring a smooth travel experience during this period.

Scheduled to take place on September 9 and 10, the G20 Summit holds immense significance, and the national capital is gearing up to host the event. The Delhi Airport, often referred to as the Indira Gandhi International Airport, stands as the largest airport in the country, catering to the needs of around two lakh passengers on a daily basis.
